MacBook Pro 2016 release date, specs news: Not due for September launch, new leak says

Excitement is building up as tech observers as well as Apple fans are anticipating the release of MacBook Pro 2016 this fall alongside iPhone 7 and even Apple Watch 2.

However, fans are likely to get disappointed with another alleged insider update suggesting that the upcoming laptop flagship won't have a September debut, Bloomberg reported.

But the leak purportedly claims that the specs and features are rather close to what many have expected. It will reportedly sport a slimmer design—an ongoing trend among high-end laptop computers. Moreover, the physical function keys are likely to be replaced by OLED touch bar indicating a significant iterative overhaul.

Anonymous sources also confirmed what many have long predicted- a slim yet more powerful and efficient device running on the latest AMD chipset with highly advanced computer graphics.

Furthermore, it will also arrive with slew of features that include four USB Type C ports, Touch ID, retina screen display minus the headphone jack. If the new leak proves accurate, the next likely date for product unveiling will probably take place in October with debut release happening a month later.

In addition to the abovementioned specs and features, MacBook Pro 2016 is also rumored to run on an Intel Skylake processor under the hood. It will also have 8 gigabytes of RAM and an extended 10-hour battery life.

Meanwhile, Apple is reportedly streamlining its product line with the MacBook Air series getting axed as the Cupertino-based giant is concentrating its resources on the massive overhaul of the MacBook Pro lineup, Asia Stars News reported.

MacBook Air is the company's other laptop series which hasn't seen a major iterative upgrade for a long time fueling rumors that the company looks set to shut the series down. With all its resources concentrated on MacBook Pro 2016, it will just probably be a matter of time before Air gets decommissioned for good.
