'Mad Max' Release Date PS4, Xbox One, PC News: Trailer Video Shows Wasteland, Thunderdome and Car-Based Combat System
While most of the public's attention has been focused on the upcoming movie "Mad Max: Fury Road," the "Max Max" game due for release in September 2015 has been capturing the imagination of gamers.
A gameplay trailer for it was released recently. It depicted action in the Wasteland, hinted at the return of Thunderdome, and revealed its car-based combat system.
The trailer revealed that once players enter the game, they will literally have no weapons or car as they find themselves in the midst of the Wasteland. There they will have to start collecting items to first build their car and then customize and upgrade its weapons. To do this, they will have to find wrecks of vehicles in the Wasteland and then drag each back to base to use them. As for upgrades to weapons and armor, they will be tied to how well the player guides the main character through physical combat situations, which could also involve them fighting in the Thunderdome arena.
The trailer showed that the Wasteland is not a place where players can have a conscience. They will have to be ready to suppress it to be able to survive.
Polygon states that most of the action in the game is going to revolve around the iconic anti-hero using his car to either attack vehicles or use his fists to take down opponents. In this aspect, the game is very much like the first two games in the "Batman Arkham" series, which were also published by Warner Bros.
As for "Mad Max," if all goes well, the game will be released on Sept. 1 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. The game's launching was postponed last year and pushed to this year. It will still lag behind the upcoming "Mad Max: Fury Road" movie, which is due to screen on May 15.
