'Man of Steel 2' release date, news and updates: 'Arrival' star Amy Adams says script is in the works
Though Zack Snyder's "Man of Steel" was met with divisive reviews when it came out, people are still wondering about the status of the sequel. They know that Superman (Henry Cavill) will be appearing alongside other DC heroes in "Justice League" next year, but the status of his solo film is still pretty murky. Amy Adams, however, gave an update on "Man of Steel 2" and the current status of the movie.
In an interview to promote her upcoming movie, "Arrival," Adams had this to say about the next Superman solo flick: "I know they're working on the script, and I know that it's in the works."
No other information was leaked, but that's enough for fans to know that they may be getting another "Superman" film down the line. As of now, "Man of Steel 2" still has no announced director, writer or release date, so the movie may not be coming out in a very long time.
Fans speculate that the reason for the hold-up may be because Warner Bros. is waiting to see what the critical reception of "Justice League" will be when the movie comes out. "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" was supposed to be a huge movie for the studio, but after mixed reviews, the movie was considered to have underperformed in the box office.
As for the movie itself, rumors are suggesting that it will have Braniac as the central villain of "Man of Steel 2." Though Lex Luthor is considered to be Superman's nemesis, Braniac is considered to be an adversary that would even prompt Luthor to help Superman.
Previous rumors suggested that "Mad Max" director George Miller wanted to helm the project, but he has since denied those reports. A new name in circulation is "The Force Awakens" director J.J. Abrams, which could be an interesting choice, since he was supposed to work on a cancelled "Superman" movie called "Superman Flyby."
Stay tuned for more updates on "Man of Steel 2."
