'Mario Kart 64' news and update: title arrives in U.S. today for Wii U; new tracks, gameplay included
"Mario Kart 64" has just landed in the United States following its release in Europe. Players can get the game for $10.
The arrival of "Mario Kart 64" is a surprise treat for all Wii U owners, especially those who have been thinking of upgrading their device to Nintendo Switch. Now, there are more reasons why they should enjoy Wii U more with the nostalgic gameplay that "Mario Kart 64" brings.
Launched in 1997, "Mario Kart 64" has won the hearts of millions of players all around the world. It was one of the most popular titles back then, being able to sell 9.87 million copies.
As for players who already own "Mario Kart 8" for Wii U, it may still be a good decision to try "Mario Kart 64" since it features improved battle mode, new levels and more. Of course, it has the 1990s feel that fans would love to see.
"Put the pedal to the metal in this worthy successor to the Super NES® classic, Super Mario Kart®. With improved courses and a revolutionary head-to-head four-player mode," wrote Nintendo.
"Mario Kart 64 is sure to win the heart of any race-driving fan. The game includes 20 different courses filled with dips, valleys, jumps, tunnels and bridges. Smooth, precise control will bring players back time and time again for freewheeling fun," the company added.
The great thing about "Mario Kart 64" is that it is the first three-dimensional entry in the "Mario" series. This allows players to play more complicated tracks as compared with the original title. There are also new items included in the game such as the blue shell.
It also features other memorable tracks that avid players have been fond of playing like the Toad's Turnpike, Yoshi Valley and Moo Moo Farm. Last but not the least, the title's Battle Mode brings a lot more hours of fun and enjoyment.
