'Married at First Sight' season 4 spoilers, premiere recap: New couples nerve-wracked
Six total strangers at the premiere of "Married at First Sight" season 4 made the pledge to commit themselves to marriage "at first sight" with whoever the show's matchmakers selected for them. Three couples got ready to face the music Tuesday, July 26, and some gave pause when some sticky situations came up before the ceremonies took place, probably wondering if it was all a big mistake.
Nick and Sonia, Derek and Heather, and Lillian and Tom are the three couples for this new season of "Married at First Sight." Like them, the fans of the show are still getting to know these brave souls who have taken on the challenge of marrying a complete stranger for the chance that it may be true love.
Each of the six singles had thoughtfully bought a gift for their spouse-to-be, and some may not have gone down too well. Tom, for instance, had gotten Lillian a necklace with pearls, which was intended to be some form of traditional gift. Unfortunately, he didn't know that in Lillian's culture, pearls are believed to bring bad luck in weddings. The bride decided to put off wearing it as per her mother's advice, although she was concerned not wearing it would offend Tom.
Nick gifted Sonia a basketful of assortments which included some champagne while Sonia settled for a bottle of Scotch for the groom. However, Nick's mom made a comment on the gift saying her son's bride should have picked whiskey. Some see this as a portent of things to come.
Heather, in the meantime, may have had an attack of pre-wedding jitters when she suddenly became tearful, but her father seemed to have talked her out of her mood.
When it looked like everyone was quite willing to proceed with walking down the aisle, Lillian arrived at her wedding venue as a heavy shower poured, drenching her guests. This prompted the bride to think whether it may be a bad sign.
