'Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite' release date slated for late 2017; Marvel, Capcom clarify 2v2 format against 3v3
"Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite" is planned to come out in the latter part of 2017, as announced by Capcom's Tomoaki Ayano. Although enthusiasts will have to wait for a few more months before the title arrives, the wait should be worth it since Michael Evans, Capcom USA's director of production, has promised to take the game to an "exciting direction."
In an interview with PlayStation, both Marvel and Capcom executives revealed substantial details about the anticipated "Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite." Marvel's Mike Jones said, "You can think of your two characters operating as one character. You're making combos that ... You're not just using one character's tool set, you're using both tool sets and you can freestyle."
However, news has it that players will have one less character on the field from each team, indicating the possibility that game experience may have limited potential unlike the current ones. But since Evans promised that they are "taking it in a very exciting direction," fans should not worry about it.
And since the upcoming title is ditching the three-on-three battle with assist format, there are players who got concerned if the game will still uphold the same vibe that the franchise has become popular for. Both Capcom and Marvel assured the fans that the game is still action-packed, fast-paced and will retain the same adrenalin that players have loved.
"Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite" was announced just this month during the PlayStation Experience event. The game will have a two-on-two battle format and will carry the Infinite Stones that will further boost the powers of the fighters.
Confirmed fighters for the title are Captain Marvel, Iron Man, Captain America, Mega Man X, Morrigan, Ryu and more to come in the future. The game will be out on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 (PS4) and PC.
The exact release date has yet to be announced, but Tomoaki Ayano said to 4Gamer that they are launching the game in "the latter half" of 2017.
