"Mass Effect: Andromeda" is one of the most-anticipated video games to arrive next year, and Bioware recently announced new details about the upcoming installment.

According to the developer, not all species from the original "Mass Effect" trilogy will be included in the upcoming game. BioWare creative director Mac Walters mentioned in an interview that while not all alien species coming from the Milky Way Galaxy will make an appearance in Andromeda, it doesn't necessarily mean that they are gone forever. Walters stressed that the developers are not closing their doors on the possibility of the said characters returning in future titles.

To date, only humans, Asari, Turians and Salarians have been confirmed to be a part of the latest game. Each of them has an ark filled with possible Andromeda colonists. Krogans are also in the game but unlike the other races, they don't have an ark. As for everyone else, it seems that the Batarians and Vorcha, Drell and Volus, Quarians and Geth, as well as Hanar and Elcor won't be making any appearance.

Despite leaving out some notable characters from the original trilogy, the game is still something fans should look forward to. "Mass Effect: Andromeda" producer Mike Gamble recently caught up with Game Informer, and he revealed that the new installment is the biggest project they have ever made.

"This is the biggest we've ever gone, in terms of the number of pieces of content. There are combat-related encounters, puzzle-related encounters, narrative-related encounters, and a lot of things will happen that add more depth to the critical path."

As an early holiday treat for fans, EA will showcase a new "Mass Effect: Andromeda" gameplay video at The Game Awards on December 1.

Developed by BioWare and published by Electronic Arts, "Mass Effect: Andromeda" is slated to be released in March 2017 for Microsoft Windows PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
