'Mass Effect Andromeda' release date, gameplay: New details on Ryder family's story revealed
"Mass Effect Andromeda" will introduce a new set of protagonists in the person of the Ryder family—a brother, a sister and their father.
Although players will see the story through the eyes of either siblings, their old man will also have a significant role in the whole story.
It was revealed during an interview with "Mass Effect Andromeda" creative director Mac Walters with Red Bull that the siblings will be in the same galaxy, but not necessarily on the same planet.
When the interviewer suggested that the Ryder siblings could find their way back to each other, he said. "Well, let's take it that way."
"You've already met Daddy. He was the older guy in one of the first trailers. The one in the N7 [Special Forces] armor," he continued.
Being the father of two persons separated in a massive galaxy in "Mass Effect Andromeda," fans can expect to see the Ryder patriarch swooping in to make sure his children are safe.
It would appear that the father is a much more experienced explorer than his kids. As revealed by BioWare, the "Mass Effect Andromeda" protagonists in the game are newbies to the field.
"You don't start as a hero, ready to face whatever lies ahead. You start as a fairly ordinary person, sure with some military training, but still, a lot to learn," Walters explained.
"You are not a natural-born leader, more a fish out of water. You start as a Pathfinder, not an Elite Soldier, and that's a totally different story," he continued.
With that said, it would make sense that the father will protect his children as they go about the journey. However, the whole story will not be revealed until next month during the N7 Day on Nov. 7.
In other news, "Mass Effect" producer Michael Gamble implied in a recent tweet that they have no plans yet on releasing "Mass Effect Andromeda" to the newly previewed Nintendo Switch.
"Mass Effect Andromeda" will be released for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and personal computer (PC) in March 2017.
