'Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain' PS3, Xbox 360, PC Release Date News: Game Allows More Players
The good news about the game "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain" is that developer and game designer Hideo Kojima is continuing to work on it along with his team at Kojima Productions.
The multiplayer mode in the game, which is the current version of Metal Gear Online, will reportedly allow 12 players for those using the Xbox 360 and PS3 editions of the game. Those using the current generation of consoles will be able to have 16 players.
This information originated from the Japanese website for "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain" and it subsequently spread online.
Those who purchase the game in any of its editions will get free access to the Metal Gear Online. It remains to be seen if more changes will be included for different consoles.
Other games such as "Battlefield 3" featured smaller maps on last generation console versions. More of the same could also find its way into the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain."
Last month, a rift was reported to have developed between Konami and Kojima. Some people feared that the game would be delayed as a result
Later, news surfaced that in spite of the problems "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain" was on track to be released on Sept. 1. The PC edition of the game will be released on Sept.15.
Kojima and his team of developers at Kojima Productions would be involved in the game following which they plan to split from Konami.
Signs of Kojima's departure have started to surface in the game itself. Recently, the cover art for "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain" showed that his name had been removed. Rumors have also been continuously surfacing that all is not well between Konami and Kojima Productions. Several staff members have apparently been involved in the ongoing power struggle.
