Miami Dolphins injury news: Dolphins' Howard aggravates knee injury
The Miami Dolphins are struggling with their roster and it appears to take a big hit again as a promising rookie goes down because of a knee injury.
Reports revealed that cornerback Xavien Howard aggravated his fragile condition while in practice.
After a promising start this season, Howard was injured during practice and it alarmed the team as he recently went through surgery this summer.
Howard missed out on the training camp and most of the pre-season as he recovered but he appeared to cope well when he returned.
According to Sun-Sentinel, Howard recorded 28 tackles and two pass deflections in his four starts this season, despite the Dolphins' struggles so far.
At 1-3 this season, the Dolphins are desperately trying to bounce back but Howard's absence is a huge blow to the club.
This Sunday, the team will face the Tennessee Titans and coach Adam Gase is taking every precaution to ensure that Howard will not be at risk.
In an interview with Sun-Sentinel, Gase said: "We're still in the evaluation stage with him. We're going to get through this week and see where we're at. We'll keep having him deal with our trainers and local doctors and see where it takes us here leading up to Sunday."
However, it has been revealed that the team does not think the injury is serious. They are just taking the necessary precautions as Howard is coming off surgery.
Playing may make his condition worse which could hamper Howard in the future and threaten his playing career.
The Dolphins are hoping to get him back soon because they are tied with the struggling New York Jets at the bottom of the pack.
They are currently chasing the New England Patriots who are 3-1 in the division and leading the charge.
Howard was picked in the second round, 38th overall in the 2016 draft.
