Microsoft Surface Pro 5 release date: Device to arrive with Surface Phone?

Microsoft Surface Pro 5 is expected to be released with the Microsoft Surface Phone next year, if the latest reports about the two-in-one device are to be believed.

The Redmond-based tech giant has just released an upgraded version of the Microsoft Surface Pro 4, but the full-on successor is not set to release until next year.

Interestingly, if the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will be released with the Microsoft Surface Phone, it might have to wait until fall next year.

Rumor has it that Microsoft is looking to delay the handset and wait for the Redstone 3 update for the Windows 10, which is not coming out until late next year.

One of the features of the software update is the addition of x86 emulation in the Continuum in order for it to run apps in the x86 as well.

However, there are contradicting reports that the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will be released next year, which is the subject of rumors in the past.

It is believed that the device will be release around the time that Apple will push out the iPad Pro 2 so that it can go toe to toe with the giant tablet from its Cupertino-based rival.

This is what Microsoft did with its new Surface Studio, which was launched a day before Apple showed off the iMac 2016, effectively overshadowing the iPhone maker's desktop.

If Microsoft plans to replicate this kind of success, it is likely to come out with the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 before Apple releases its second iPad Pro, which is set for a spring release date as well.

With regards to the specifications and features, it is believed that the Microsoft Surface Phone will get a thinner but stronger build and improved performance and battery life courtesy to the Intel Kaby Lake processor.

An Ultra HD display is also expected along with a much better and smoother technique on detaching the screen from the keyboard.
