Microsoft Surface Pro 5 release date, news, rumors: Huge Surface Pro 4 promos signal arrival of Surface Pro 5?
It is highly speculated that Microsoft will be releasing the next iteration of the Surface Pro in the coming months. Many are expecting that the Surface Pro 5 will finally be unveiled by the company towards the later part of 2016, although Microsoft has yet to confirm the development of the said device. However, more hints are coming that point to the arrival of the updated hybrid laptop in the near future.
As reported by iTech Post, huge Surface Pro 4 sale promos were seen in different stores for the past few weeks. The Surface Pro 4, which is usually being sold on the market for $899, now has a special price tag of $749. To note, this is not the first time that the Redmond-based tech giant has placed the Surface Pro 4 units on promo sale. Last August, it was reported that the Surface Pro 4 got a price cut in several online stores such as eBay.
The price cuts for the Surface Pro 4 could be an indication that Microsoft is now starting to clear the older models off their inventory. Once the Surface Pro 4 units have been cleared out of the markets' shelves after the series of discount promos, then the company will proceed with the release of the brand new Surface Pro 5. With the sale promos still ongoing, the public can use this opportunity to obtain the Surface Pro 4 at a reasonably low price. The specs of the Surface Pro 4 is top-of-the-line, and it will be a challenge for the upcoming Surface Pro 5 to overshadow its predecessor. The Surface Pro 4 is powered by a special Intel M3 processor, accompanied by 4 GB RAM. It has 128 GB internal storage, perfect for those who like to save various type of media files.
According to Game N Guide, the Surface Pro 5 may be released with a larger storage capacity and more efficient performance over its predecessor. For one, the Surface Pro 5 is rumored to have at least 6 GB worth of RAM. Its internal storage capacity, on the other hand, will be extended for up to 256 GB. It will be sporting a 12.3-inch screen with a screen resolution of 2736 x 1824 pixels.
Moreover, it is rumored that the Surface Pro 5 will go past the Intel's sixth generation of processing chipset, Skylake, and instead use the Kaby Lake processor. However, the Kaby Lake chipsets have not yet been shipped and are not expected to be until the last quarter of this year. Therefore, the public may have to wait a little longer for the release of the Surface Pro 5, as Microsoft still waits for Intel to finish shipping the Kaby Lake processors.
