If the rumors are anything to go by, it is not expected that the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will be released anytime soon. However, the Redmon-based tech giant is still in the process of developing the next iteration of the Surface device. There are rumors suggesting that the successor of last year's Surface Pro 4 will not be seen in a few years, but it is still likely that the Surface Pro 5 will appear during the early months of 2017.

Rumors have it that Surface Pro 5's processing unit is expected to be the next generation of Intel chipsets. The previous Intel processors used in today's devices is the Intel Skylake, but for the next Surface Pro, it is reported that Microsoft will be using the new chipset from the company. Dubbed as the Kaby Lake processor, the processor is rumored to be the perfect technology for Surface Pro 5 as it will introduce faster and more efficient processing of work and data. GSM Arena reported that Microsoft will equip the Surface Pro 5 with better battery capacity, and this can only be done by using the Kaby Lake processors.

Longer battery performance can be done with a high efficient processor, and it is rumored that Intel's latest Kaby Lake processor will do the trick for Surface Pro 5. The Kaby Lake processors are said to optimize the use of battery power, and will require less heat for all of its work. This will help Surface Pro 5 prolong its battery life for more hours compared to Surface Pro 4. One of the issues of the users on the Surface Pro 4 is its limited battery life.

However, Microsoft may have to wait until early 2017 to use the Kaby Lake processors as there are reports suggesting that Intel will delay the shipment of the processors. Yibada reported that it is possible for Microsoft to release the Surface Pro 5 around March 2017. Also, the online publication noted of the upcoming Windows 10 Redstone 2 OS that will be featured in the Surface Pro 5. The said operating system is not yet expected to be developed until early 2017. Still, the Surface fans can expect at least four Surface devices coming up before the expected release of the Surface Pro 5 in 2017.
