Talk about the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 has once again picked up speed after it has quieted down a bit when the device didn't show up at the company's Surface event last October. This time, reports are saying Microsoft may unveil the new Surface Pro in Feb. 2017 along with the Surface Book 2 and Surface Phone.

The official specs of the two-in-one tablet haven't been revealed yet, but some publications are already saying it may be one of the best tablets to come out next year. So, what makes the device so special?

Industry insiders say the Surface Pro 5 will come out equipped with Intel's seventh-generation Kaby Lake processor. Besides the expected processor upgrade, reports say the tablet will also have a 12.3-inch PixelSense screen, and buyers will have the option to choose between 2K and 4K screen resolutions.

Like the Surface Pro 4, consumers can also choose how much random-access memory (RAM) they want preinstalled in the device. It is available in 4 GB, 8 GB and 16 GB. The tablet will also have up to 256 GB of internal storage space. Some reports say there may be a variant that has 512 GB of internal storage. That's huge. The device will also come with USB Type-C ports, a 3.5mm audio jack, a microSD slot and a Surface Pen.

Meanwhile, sources say the Surface Pro 5 may sport an improved battery since the Surface Pro 4 has been plagued with battery issues. The Kaby Lake processor is supposed to slightly improve battery life, and it is rumored that the device will have a battery that can last seven hours. That's so much better than the three to four hours of battery life people are getting out of the Surface Pro 4.

As of this moment, Microsoft has yet to announce that the Surface Pro 5 is under development. Until they make a confirmation, all reports concerning the tablet are rumors at best, so readers are advised to take everything with a grain of salt.
