'Minecraft: Pocket Edition' update: Add-Ons allow players to customize game
The highly anticipated "Minecraft: Pocket Edition" Boss Update was recently launched. It built up all the excitement among fans, but is the update living up to the hype?
According to reports, the Boss Update introduced new features to the "Minecraft" game. Add-Ons have also been introduced to the game. This new system allows players to check the files of the game, which they can edit according to their preferences. What players change affects the current game and they can change it according to their liking.
VentureBeat reported that the Add-Ons were specially added by Mojang to entice new gamers and to rekindle longtime gamers' excitement for the franchise. The developers wanted them to have the experience of building their own game based on their inclinations, instead of just having to go with what is given to them by the development team.
"Minecraft" senior producer James Webster previously told the news outlet about the mechanics of the Add-Ons. Moreover, he advised gamers about the latest feature.
Webster said, "It's really not that difficult. It's just a matter of creating the geometries, which is just a bunch of points in space. And then adding the textures to that. It's really simple to make these massive changes."
The senior producer also told the publication that the latest feature was developed to inspire gamers to be creative. What they can create can be shared with other gamers. The worlds they develop can be uploaded to the Minecraft Realms, where other players can download what they have created and they can add their own personal twist to it.
The "Minecraft: Pocket Edition" is currently available for download on iOS and Android operating systems. Gamers who want the Windows 10 edition can find the downloadable content on the Microsoft Store.
Watch out for more updates on "Minecraft: Pocket Edition."
