Minnesota Timberwovles trade rumors: Superstar trade for Wolves and Warriors
Despite the promise of a bright future thanks to their young core, the Minnesota Timberwolves still appear to be scraping the bottom of the table.
As of writing time, they are at the bottom of the Northwest Division, and are revolving around the second or third worst record in the Western Conference.
With another rough season apparently ahead, the Wolves are being linked to a superstar from the Golden State Warriors. Talks are suggesting that the Wolves would try to bring in Klay Thompson from the Warriors and are ready to give up Andrew Wiggins in return.
This can potentially be a big trade, given the two players and the amount of talent involved in the potential swap.
Thompson is the streaky shooter from the Warriors and he averages 18.4 points per game while shooting 45 percent from the field.
Unfortunately, he has struggled this year, especially his outside shooting as he is only a 21-percent shooter from beyond the arc at the moment. Many are also thinking that Thompson is unsettled with Kevin Durant in the team as his role may have dwindled.
A possible move to the Wolves would make Thompson the undoubted number one player and he will get the attention he needs. He may not be a championship contender, but he can be the veteran presence in a team that has a big upside in the coming years.
Meanwhile, Wiggins is the first pick of the 2014 draft and has also been the leader for the young Wolves squad. He averages 18.8 points and 4.1 rebounds in his career, but has upped his scoring output so far this season as he averages 20.6 a night.
Unlike Thompson, Wiggins relies on his speed and explosiveness to the basket and possesses a different set of skills from his counterpart.
If this deal were to happen, it would be interesting to see how things can unfold for both Western Conference franchises.
