Minnesota Vikings roster news: Peterson may be on his way out of Minnesota

Things are uncertain in Minnesota between the Vikings and Adrian Peterson and reports are claiming that the two are set to part ways at the end of the season.

Despite being one of the big names in the National Football League (NFL), Peterson had a slow start and went down due to an injury.

Now, talks are circulating that the Vikings will be unwilling to pay Peterson his $18 million in the coming year as the team may not feel they can get anything in return.

At the moment, Peterson is set to earn $7.75 million and is the highest paid running back in the league. That will grow substantially in 2017 and with Peterson's age and list of injuries piling up, the Vikings may cut their losses than pay their running back the money.

It was a tough blow as Peterson may miss the remainder of the season due to the knee injury. Many believed that even if Peterson had a great season this term, the Vikings would not want him back in 2017.

The fact that he is now out due to an injury may be the final nail in the coffin in Peterson's career with the team. Especially given that without him, the Vikings have stayed afloat as they are 3–0 in the league and are one of the five teams that remain unbeaten at the moment.

This may mean that the Vikings do not really have the need for Peterson and his bloated salary, which may easily result in him leaving the team after this season.

The long list of injuries has shortened what could have been an even better career than he had, and it may be best for Peterson to find a new team.

He is unlikely to put up the same impressive numbers he used to put up, and could also work better as a veteran presence and back-up given that his minutes must be managed.
