'Mortal Kombat X' 'Kombat Pack 3' DLC release date update: Expansion a no-show at EVO 2016; Concrete details about DLC will be announced soon?
Many fans were excited when previous reports suggested that the new "Mortal Kombat X" DLC, "Kombat Pack 3," is going to get announced by the game developer NetherRealm Studios. The announcement was supposed to happen at the recently concluded Evolution Championship Series or EVO 2016. The company has decided to skip the "Kombat Pack 3" during the event, which immediately raised some questions from many fans as to when the new expansion will arrive.
NetherRealm Studio executive Ed Boon did not mention any information regarding the new DLC; however, on his Twitter post, the game director teased fans by saying that something big is going to happen.
"@MK9Scorpion2011 @noobde what was the MKX Cool News at EVO? I missed it :/ EB: Never planned it for EVO. But there is big MKXL news coming," wrote Boon on Twitter.
It was already revealed by Boon that the upcoming expansion will feature many guest characters.
"I always think there's a novelty to it and there's a certain amount of people who think that when they see a guest character that it took the slot of a DC character that they wanted to have," the game direct explained in a report by Crossmap.
He added that it has already been proven that guest characters can be surprisingly good for the game just like Scorpion in the first "Injustice" video game.
"But you know, Scorpion in 'Injustice' was the most downloaded of all the characters. There was a coolness and a novelty factor to seeing the mixing of the things. Alien and Predator in 'Mortal Kombat X' were the most downloaded of those, so I would be surprised if we didn't do any of that [in Injustice 2]."
Despite the game's no show at the EVO event, fans are pretty positive that the game developer will soon provide significant details about the upcoming expansion before its final release.
