Moto 360 vs Sony Smartwatch 3 Review: Specs, Price and Features Comparison - Similarly Priced Devices With Very Different Looks
The Moto 360 and the Sony Smartwatch 3 are among the best wearable devices in the market. Compared to each other, the device from Motorola manages to barely edge out its competitor.
Design
The Moto 360 comes with a stainless steel watch face while its straps come in a variety of materials including leather, rubber and steel. As for the Smartwatch 3, it has a rectangular watch face and is paired with rubber straps that come in limited colors. As for waterproofing, the Smartwatch 3 has an IP68 dust and waterproofing rating while the Moto 360 comes with an IP67 rating and can be dunked in one meter of water for about 30 minutes.
Display
In terms of their displays, the Moto 360 has a 1.56-inch LCD screen with a resolution of 320 x 290 pixels and density of 205 pixels per inch. Compared to this, the Smartwatch 3 has a 1.6-inch screen with a resolution of 320 x 320 pixels. In the Moto 360, the display does not cover the full watch face. There is a portion at the bottom that has been sliced away as it contains the ambient light sensor.
Platform
Powering both the Smartwatch 3 and the Moto 360 is Android Wear. As for their specs, the Smartwatch 3 has a quad ARM A7 CPU clocked at 1.2 Ghz coupled with 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB of internal storage, while the Moto 360 comes with the TI OMAP 3 CPU coupled with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage. Both smartwatches have to be paired with compatible Android smartphones.
Sensors
On the Smartwatch 3 and Moto 360 are an ambient light sensor, accelerometer, compass, gyro and GPS. However, the Moto 360 also has a heart rate monitor and pedometer which its competitor does not have.

Both the Moto 360 and the Sony Smartwatch 3 cost around $ 249.
