Joanna Wellick will stop at nothing until she learns the truth behind her husband's disappearance, "Mr. Robot" actress Stephanie Corneliussen has said.

Corneliussen, who plays Wellick, was promoted to series regular in the USA series' second season. Wellick, who was a recurring character in the first season, has been placed in the spotlight in "Mr. Robot" season 2. In the current installment, the character is searching for her missing husband, Tyrell Wellick (Martin Wallström), the Senior Vice President of Technology at E Corp.

In last week's "Mr. Robot," the calculating and dangerous Wellick cemented her villainous status by sanctioning her first kill.

In an interview with IGN, Corneliussen spoke about her character's motivations, saying, "She pulls the strings and I think she's willing to go just about anywhere."

"She will not stop until she finds out what's happening," the actress added.

According to Corneliussen, while Wellick seems to be down on her luck, with a missing husband and her money gone, viewers shouldn't write off the character just yet.

"But I think we should always remember that Joanna has a plan," she said.

Apart from Corneliussen's Wellick, other strong, independent, and intelligent women play key roles in "Mr. Robot." And according to the actresses who play them, having the privilege to take on such roles is one of the best parts of working on the techno-drama/thriller.

"We are women and we are equals," Corneliussen said during last week's Television Critics Association conference (via Polygon).

"We're not secondary characters," Grace Gummer, who plays new cast addition Dominique "Dom" DiPierro, said. "We drive the story just as much as much as Rami [Malek] or Christian [Slater]."

"I don't think we're motivated by some female motor and some female agenda," Gummer added. "But Sam [Esmail] doesn't shy away from having these incredibly strong female characters front and center."

New episodes of "Mr. Robot" season 2 airs every Wednesday at 10 p.m. EDT on USA Network.
