NBA trade rumors 2016 update: Minnesota Timberwolves trade to get Jimmy Butler?

If the rumor mill is to be believed, the Chicago Bulls look like a team ready to go for a complete rebuild following talks of them open to trading their star players to other teams for pieces and young stars.

With recent news confirming Derrick Rose being traded to the New York Knicks, many speculated that the Bulls are now Jimmy Butler's team to lead as they try to make him the centrepiece of the franchise.

After being picked 30th overall in the 2011 NBA Draft, Butler has emerged as one of the more complete players in the league — one who can play excellent offense and be a threat on the defensive end as well.

He averaged his highest in five years in the league in scoring with 20.9 points per game as well as shooting 45 percent from the field.

Butler was also picked for his second straight All-Star appearance in the recent season. However, he failed to lead the Bulls to the playoffs which resulted in disappointment in the Illinois franchise.

This has led to talks that maybe the Bulls are looking to offload their players and start from scratch.

The Minnesota Timberwolves have emerged as a strong contender to land Butler, but the Bulls are asking for multiple pieces that have resulted in the talks being stalled.

Initially, the Timberwolves linked rookie Kris Dunn to move to the Bulls as they would give Chicago a young player who they can eventually develop.

Dunn was picked fifth overall in the recently concluded draft and should have a bright future ahead. However, RealGM revealed that Zach LaVine is also a player that the Bulls want as the third-year man is also thought to have a big career in the league.

LaVine averaged 14.0 points per game in his second season in the league and played all 82 games. His minutes went up to 28 per game and he is showing constant signs of improvement.

However, the communication between the two teams has been on and off as they still do not see eye-to-eye.

Despite this, this rumor should not be disregarded as it can open up later on in the summer.
