NBA trade rumors 2016: Jimmy Butler to transfer to Oklahoma City Thunder?

As the 30-team National Basketball Association takes its offseason break, the Oklahoma City Thunder seems busy rebuilding its roster following the departure of their lead player Kevin Durant to become part of Stephen Curry-led Golden State Warriors. In their relentless search to fill the superstar vacuum, a number of names has emerged for potential trade deals with Oklahoma including Chicago Bulls' very own Jimmy Butler.

The Thunder is not completely helpless after Durant's recent changing of zip codes from OKC to his new home in Oakland, California. The team can still rely on Russell Westbrook's basketball prowess for years to come. Moreover, Victor Oladipo and Steven Adams will still probably stick around long enough to give Westbrook a helping hand. But according to a report by FanSided's Thunderous Intentions, acquiring Butler via trade with Chicago sounds like a viable plan to get the Thunder's steam engine running before the February trade deadline.

But is the Bulls' front office ready to let go of Butler? So far, there are no clear indications suggesting the likelihood of Chicago-Oklahoma trade over Butler. The shooting guard's name has been cropping up quite often this offseason as a prospective candidate for trade. Should Chicago decide to let go of Butler, Oklahoma is more than welcome to sign him in. The problem, however, is how to get Westbrook work seamlessly with a dominant player like Butler. The latter has been widely criticized for keeping the ball to himself most of the time causing friction with ex-teammate Derrick Rose.

However, nothing is certain as of this time. After all, Butler doesn't sound so concerned with the swirling trade rumors in the league. He admitted, though, that he's ready to any possible contingency.

"I'm a big boy. I don't need you to tell me, 'No, you're not going to be traded.' I know it's a business and if it happens it happens, but I'm here," said Butler per RealGM.

Meanwhile, Butler has finally entered modeling and has become the official sports endorser for the men's retailer Bonobos. The shooting guard also marks his commercial debut with the brand which some observers find quite amusing. He will be joining other NBA superstars who have become brand ambassadors themselves such as Curry, Westbrook, and Kevin Love, CBS Sports reported.
