NBA trade rumors: Kings may find it tough to trade Cousins
Despite being one of the elite players in the league, it appears that DeMarcus Cousins' time with the Sacramento Kings is about to head to a halt.
Spending his whole career with the California franchise has resulted in him being recognized as one of the best centers in the game today, but the lack of the team's success has weighed down heavily on Cousins.
There have been numerous links that claimed Cousins may be moving away soon, and it may be only a matter of who is willing to pay the price before the Kings move on from their their star.
Since his arrival in the 2010-11 season, Cousins has been great, averaging 20.3 points and 10.7 rebounds per game.
This year, his numbers are slightly better, averaging 26 points and 8.4 rebounds in the first seven games.
However, it has been the same scenario as the Kings are still below the .500 mark in the first few games and if things go on the same way, they might again miss out on the chance to make it to the post-season.
With that in mind, many believe that Cousins is now on his way out of the team.
Many executives believe that having Cousins on board will help their respective teams, but the problem is that the Kings may be putting too much value on Cousins, which drives away possible interest from others.
There is no doubt that Cousins is one of the better players. In fact ,he is arguably considered as the best center currently playing the game. But his downfall is in his breakdowns and when he loses his cool — and control of the game in the process.
He has certainly grown leaps and bounds but at times, this still comes up and that has been a concern for other executives. It remains to be seen if Cousins will be dealt but if the Kings continue their slump, they might very well lose their best player.
