Nene Leakes of 'Real Housewives of Atlanta' Gets Huge Raise from Bravo
"Real Housewives of Atlanta" star Nene Leakes received a huge salary raise from Bravo to have her back on the seventh season of the show. She will be earning $1.5 million in the upcoming season, which will make her the highest-paid Bravo reality star, according to Radar Online.
The Hollywood Gossip's source confirmed that Leakes was able to "broker the huge pay increase because she is the most popular housewife of any of the Bravo franchises."
Leakes was said to be one of the reasons for the good ratings of the reality show. Some other "Real Housewives" franchises have suffered in terms of ratings but "Real Housewives of Atlanta" was spared from it.
"Without Nene, RHOA wouldn't be the ratings blockbuster that it continues to be. Nene made it known she would need a significant raise to [return]" the source added.
The executives of Bravo then "had no choice but to agree to it," according to the source.
In the previous year, OK! Magazine released a list of the highest paid stars in the Bravo family, with Leakes leading then with $1 million earnings. She was followed by Teresa Giudice of the "Real Housewives of New Jersey" at $650,000, while Ramona Singer and Countess LuAnn De Lesseps had a $500,000 salary for "Real Housewives of New York."
While Leakes is now up for the raise, Porscha Williams will just be a guest star for the reality show, following her demotion because of an issue with Kenya Moore.
Meanwhile, Moore revealed that she is currently busy with a new writing job. After sharing her second book which is set to be released soon, she is now working on a script for a new show as she tweeted:"Rise and shine! Can't hit the gym writing a TV script! Can't wait to share. Xo."
"Real Housewives of Atlanta" Season 7 will return on November 9 on Bravo.
