New Balance 3D-printed shoe released date updates, news: It will be sold for $400 once it hits the market
The Boston-based New Balance has just announced its 3D-printed shoes. According to reports, the model will come out in the market on April 15 in Boston. The limited-edition shoes will be available in extremely limited stocks.
There will only be 44 pairs that will be put on display at the New Balance Experience Store in Boston. Limited numbers will also be made available online and each pair will have a price tag of $400. The unusual model from a brand known for their running shoes is meant to commemorate the 44th anniversary of the company; hence, the 44 pairs. The company was handed over by Jim Davis in 1972 to its new owner who has made it an institution in the athletic shoes world.
Robert DeMartini, New Balance president and CEO, explains how they come out with an idea to bring an innovative piece in the industry.
"Our unique position as both a manufacturer and retailer allows us to bring the world's first 3D printed running midsole to market," DeMartini said.
The shoe has been dubbed as Zante Generate and its midsole shows a 3D printed design surrounded by many open cells for durability, stability, flexibility and cushioning.
It is important for consumers to take note that the shoe was not made for its design only. It has the same technology as their newer high-end lines to provide both looks and comfort. Although it carries a hefty price tag, the company promises it to be worth it.
The 3D shoe models are not something new to the consumers. Companies such as Under Armour and Adidas already have their own line, which managed to sell 500 pairs of 3D shoe. Although New Balance is not the first one to make such releases, it will be interesting how the fans will receive it once it hits the market.
