New England Patriots injury news: Patriots still finding it tough to solve quarterback issue
The New England Patriots may be winning so far, but they have had it tough when it comes to keeping quarterbacks available.
With Week 4 on the horizon, the Patriots are unbeaten in the league so far with a 3–0 record and are leading the American Football Conference (AFC) East.
They have a healthy lead over their rivals the New York Jets and Buffalo Bills, while the Miami Dolphins are at the bottom of the pile.
However, the Patriots have had it tough as they dealt with issues in the quarterback position.
Everyone knows that Tom Brady is out for four weeks as he serves his suspension. Everyone is eager to see him back on the field and Brady knows that there is a lot of work left to be done when he gets back as the team's starting quarterback.
Unfortunately, the Patriots have had trouble retaining their back-ups this year, and ahead of their Week 4 clash against the Buffalo Bills, they appear not to have a healthy quarterback to play with.
NESN reported that Jimmy Garoppolo and Jacoby Brissett are questionable to play against the Bills and that presents a major problem for the Patriots.
Garoppolo is still recovering from a shoulder injury and he may play, but it will surely be in limited minutes as he cannot rely on his shoulder for the whole duration of the game.
Brissett has a more minor injury as he has a knock on his right thumb, but that can easily worsen if he plays in Week 4.
There are some reports that believe playing both Garoppolo and Brissett in the game can help manage minutes for both while addressing the quarterback issue, but that is still definitely a risk.
When Brady comes back, there should be a back-up quarterback available and having both injured may present a new problem for the team.
It remains to be seen how the Patriots will deal with this but it should be interesting when they face the Bills on Sunday, Oct. 2, starting at 1 p.m. EDT.
