'New Girl' season 6 spoilers, plot news: Jess and Nick's relationship to move forward following Reagan's exit
Jess (Zooey Deschanel) and the gang will soon be back when "New Girl" airs its sixth season, with more exciting episodes featuring new chapters in everyone's lives.
Season 5 wrapped everything up on a positive note, as CeCe (Hannah Simone) and Schmidt (Max Greenfield) finally got married. Actress Hannah Simone recently sat down in an interview with Wetpaint, and she weighed in on the upcoming season. Following CeCe and Schmidt's wedding, the 35-year-old admitted that she still has no idea what's in store for the newlyweds, but expressed her excitement when she goes back to filming. "I have no idea! Later this summer we will head back to shoot Season 6 and find out what Liz Meriwether has in store for this newlywed couple. I can't wait to find out!" Simone said.
Simone also mentioned that it's difficult to tell which direction the storyline will go, so fans will have to see for themselves once the series returns this Fall. "The greatest thing about New Girl is that you never can predict what is next! I am as excited as everyone else to see what our writers have in store," she added.
In terms of casting, creator Liz Meriwether openly expressed her desire to see Megan Fox reprise her role as Reagan in the show. Her appearance was short-lived since she only stepped in to fill the void left by lead star Deschanel due to her pregnancy, but she easily became a fan-favorite during her stay. "We love Reagan, and she's really funny with Nick. Nick dating Reagan shows how much he has grown too; he has the confidence to be with her. In order to get Nick and Jess back together, both of the characters [would need] to grow a lot and change or realize what went wrong in the last relationship," Meriwether explained, adding that things between Jesse and Nick will eventually fall into place when season 6 rolls in.
Tune in to "New Girl" season 6 which premieres on Tuesday, Sept. 20, at 8:30 p.m. ET on Fox.
