New Orleans Pelicans trade rumors: Davis needs to leave before the Pelicans continue to implode
Despite playing the best basketball of his short career, Anthony Davis has very few things to smile about with the New Orleans Pelicans.
Picked first overall in the 2012 NBA draft, Davis was touted to be the team's franchise player and he has certainly been just that.
Prior to this season, Davis has averaged 21 points, 9.7 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game. He was shooting at an impressive 52 percent from the field and was staying healthy as the Pelicans battled for spots in the playoffs.
Fast-forward to this year, Davis is wrecking havoc with 31.6 points and 12 rebounds per game in his first five in the 2016-17 campaign, but the Pelicans have not won a single game all season.
With that in mind, many are citing that Davis should be seeing his way out of the franchise as it has failed to give him the supporting cast he deserves.
Davis is a spectacular player and at 23 years old, he is already establishing himself as one of the best in the league. A two-way player, Davis is complete and will likely need only a few pieces around him to make a team great.
Unfortunately, the Pelicans have been unable to do that and even with a few trades here and there, it seems that they are even worse off then they were a few seasons ago.
Naturally, this results in rumors surrounding Davis and a move away from a team. A player unhappy with his surroundings may not play to his potential and Davis is certainly unsatisfied with how his team is playing.
Many are now thinking that the Boston Celtics is a great place for Davis to go, as it will maximize his talents while having players around him help. With the Celtics, he will have the backing of a storied franchise and players not afraid to get gritty in order to get the win they want.
This is speculation, but if Davis wants to succeed, he may need to find a new place to call home.
