Nexus 6 Release Date and Specs: Rumors Continue to Swirl About New Google Device
Rumors and speculation continue to swirl online about the release of the newest Google smartphone, the Nexus 6, which should be released this October.
According to reports, the new Nexus 6 will have a 5.92-inch display which is almost comparable to the 5.2-inch Moto X that was released earlier this year.
It is also reported that the new smartphone will have the Android L 5 OS. It will likely have a 64-bit support chipset as well.
Reports have varying information for the processor, but the next-gen model is said to have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 SoC or Snapdragon 801 processor with 3 GB of RAM. It will also have a 3,200mAh battery that can power the consumption of the phone's large display.
The name for the newest smartphone has also created a buzz - the "Nexus 6" is closely incorporated with the 1982 American neo-noir dystopian film "Blade Runner." In the story, "Nexus-6" replicants are super-advanced androids with human-like characteristics except that they have incomparable strength and temperature tolerance.
Google will most likely leave the number series to avoid conflicts with film. This is the reason why the name Nexus X has also been considered for the smartphone, reports says. The "X" said to be coming from Motorola's current flagship.
Meanwhile, according to Den of Geek, it is possible that the release date will be on Oct. 15 or 16. Following the Nexus 5 launch and release pattern in 2013, the new smartphone will then be on sale on November.
