Nexus latest update, news: Android 7.1.1 Nougat to be rolled out on Dec. 5 for Nexus devices

Android 7.1.1 Nougat is going live on Dec. 5 in the United States. It is expected that Nexus devices will be the first ones to receive the update and this is done over the air.

It is just a few nights away before Android 7.1.1 Nougat gets unveiled. The update will be given first to LG Nexus 5X, HTC Nexus 9 tablet and Huawei Nexus 6P. It is highly likely that the Asus Nexus Player and the Pixel C will get the update as they are included in the list of updates, according to Fone Arena, which sourced the information from Vodafone Australia.

It is also reported that the global release of Android 7.1.1 Nougat will be rolled out for the compatible gadgets of "Nexus," which may include the Nexus 7 2013 and the Motorola Nexus 6.

Android 7.1.1 Nougat is anticipated due to the promising features it will offer. With a whopping 650 MB requirement, the update is packed with many improvements that are set to impress the Android users.

One of these features is Google's own version of 3D Touch, which was popularized by Apple. Other features include the App shortcuts, revamped design of circular app icons, colorful keyboard and more.

Android 7.1.1 Nougat is believed to be the official operating system (OS) that original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) will use to update their respective handsets, rather than the Android 7.1. However, it may take a few weeks, and even months, before it can be available for non-Pixel or Non-Nexus devices, according to Yahoo News.

Other Android-based devices may have to wait for their own update to be rolled out, but it is reported that the latest update they can experience is the Android 7.0 Nougat. The first handsets to be possibly given an update are the ones from Google, or course. Other brands such as Moto G4, Moto G4 Plus and Lenovo will get their respective Android 7.0 Nougat updates before this year ends.
