Nickelodeon HALO Awards 2014 News: Exemplary Kids Honored
The Nickelodeon HALO Awards returned on Sunday to reward kids who have done exemplary service to their communities. HALO means "Helping and Leading Others."
The awards, which aired for one hour, could also be viewed through live streaming on Nick.com and the Nick App, which was made available for free for the first time.
Not surprisingly, the awards night was star-studded, featuring the most popular stars of today leading musical performances, as well as live performances from Nickelodeon stars. Some of the celebrities who attended were Nick Jonas, Meghan Trainor, The Roots, Echosmith, The Vamps, Fifth Harmony, Zendaya Coleman, Carlos PenaVega, Sydney Park, Jack Griffo, Kira Kosarin, Benjamin Flores Jr., Breanna Yde, Leon Thomas, and Matt Bennett.
The event was hosted by Nick Canon, who also hosts "America's Got Talent." Nick was one of the founders of the awards, which started in 2009.
In a statement, host/producer Nick Cannon said, "We're taking over New York City with the hottest music performers and the most awe-inspiring kids for one huge fun night at this year's Nickelodeon HALO Awards."
"The HALO Awards embodies the altruistic spirit of the holidays with its positive message and I can't wait to celebrate the terrific work of these young heroes," he added.
Among the awardees were Yash Gupta of Sight Learning, Lulu Cerone of LemonAID Warriors, Nicholas Lowinger of Gotta Have a Sole Foundation, Cassandra Lin of Project T.G.I.F, and Allana Wall of Polished Girlz.
