Nintendo NX release date rumors: Console may not make it at E3; March 2017 release still possible?
Nintendo's next gaming console promises to be a better product compared to its previous releases such as the Wii and the Wii U. Many fans are expecting Nintendo to showcase the all-new Nintendo NX at the upcoming Electronic Entertainment Expo or E3 2016, which is scheduled to start on June 14.
However, new reports suggest that the company may not reveal the upgraded console at the event. It was reported that the device will be the highlight of Nintendo's presence at E3, which will lead to its release in March 2017.
These reports have yet to be confirmed by Nintendo as they continued to stay mum about the rumors. Nonetheless, many fans are expecting them to provide solid details with regard to the development and release of the device at the upcoming E3 event.
When Nintendo's Wii came out, it took the top spot in the console market. It was pretty successful that Nintendo decided to release another device, only this time a handheld gaming device called Wii U. However, the new product did not quite captivate the gaming world the same way Wii did when it was introduced.
Will the NX be the redeeming factor? It has yet to be seen as the company still has not provided any concrete details regarding its existence.
The last solid information that came from the company happened during an interview Time last December. Tatsumi Kimishima, Nintendo's new president said that NX will certainly surprise many people.
"As far as NX goes, I've said it's different and obviously a new experience," Tatsumi said.
"That being said, I can assure you we're not building the next version of Wii or Wii U. It's something unique and different. It's something where we have to move away from those platforms in order to make it something that will appeal to our consumer base," he added.
