Nintendo Switch price leaks, release date: Toys R Us leaks upcoming console's price

Although the Nintendo Switch is not going to be released anytime soon, there are various speculations about the console's price.

Reports say that the device was accidentally leaked by a retailer, and that for its alleged features, the price seems pretty affordable compared to other consoles in the market.

According to reports, Toys "R" US Canada listed the price for the Nintendo Switch on their website. The retailer revealed that the upcoming console will cost $329.99 Canadian dollars, which will be about $246 U.S. dollars. Shortly after the retailer posted the announcement, they took the product page down.

Since the device's price is lower compared to other consoles in the market, such as the Xbox One, the PlayStation 4, and the PS4 Pro, many believe that the Nintendo Switch's rate could increase sales for the manufacturer. In addition, for its alleged price, the Switch boasts portable and at-home features, giving it an edge compared to the standard gaming devices.

Previously, through a press release, Nintendo teased the features of the upcoming console. "Nintendo Switch allows gamers the freedom to play however they like," Reggie Fils-Aime, President and COO of Nintendo of America stated. "It gives game developers new abilities to bring their creative visions to life by opening up the concept of gaming without boundaries," he added.

Recently, EA Games teased that one of the studio's popular titles will be available on the console. However, the video game developers didn't reveal the specific title. EA's CFO Blake Jorgensen reportedly stated during the UBS Global Technology Conference that the company will be producing one or two titles for the Switch. He stressed that the games are not new, but they are a few of their best titles.

The specifics, such as the price and the launch date, of the Nintendo Switch will be announced during a Nintendo event in January next year.
