The Vmotion 2.0 Concept previews Nissan's future design direction | Nissan

At the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS), Nissan revealed the Vmotion 2.0 Concept, a preview of the Japanese automobile manufacturer's future design direction, which will be seen in the next-generation Altima sedan. The concept vehicle has been designed to deliver a stylish and emotional design that is spacious, comfortable and equipped with the latest technologies for busy professionals.

"Technology is evolving. So is design. At Nissan, we see design as the ultimate expression of how customer see themselves, but also an expression of the vision and values of our brand. Vmotion 2.0 previews what the future designs from Nissan will be. And it is an insightful proposition of what the future sedan could be in the coming years," said Shiro Nakamura, senior vice president and chief creative officer of Nissan.

The Vmotion 2.0 Concept features Nissan's "Emotional Geometry" design language with distinct surfaces and crisp character lines all throughout the car's body. The front fascia also showcases the evolution of Nissan's iconic V-motion grille which has a more three-dimensional shape. The car's exterior elements are also more seamlessly integrated like the floating roofline that connects the raked A-pillars to the trunk lip and the wraparound rear glass and floating C-pillar that gives the vehicle a more aerodynamic appearance.

Other notable design elements include a unique carbon fiber finish with thin silver threads on the roof line and signature boomerang taillights that give the car more width. The wheelbase has also been extended which translates to a more spacious cabin. The Vmotion 2.0 Concept also features a layered paint finish in different hues to ensure that all these design elements stand out.

The concept vehicle's front and rear doors swing outward to create an open and spacious cabin. The dashboard features Nissan's "Gliding Wing" design theme wherein the instrument panel and infotainment system have been integrated.

The Vmotion 2.0 Concept also reflects Nissan Intelligent Mobility, the company's roadmap to achieve zero emissions and zero fatalities. With ProPILOT functionality, future vehicles will be able to operate autonomously while driving in urban roads with intersections and highways, as well as in heavy traffic conditions.

The Nissan Vmotion 2.0 Concept will be on display at NAIAS 2017 in Detroit from Jan. 14 to 22.
