Nokia will try to redeem its lost glory in the mobile device industry as the company prepares to join the tough Android device competition in 2017.

Reports claim that former Nokia executives formed a new company called HMD Global, and it is responsible for bringing back the mobile device brand after Microsoft purchased the company in 2014.

The Finnish company will reportedly make a comeback in the already saturated smartphone market by releasing a new product called the Nokia D1C. According to reports, the device will come in two variants.

Forbes reveals that one of the Nokia D1C smartphone variants will be a 5-inch model. It will reportedly come with a 1,080p display screen, a 13-megapixel (MP) primary camera, 2 GB of random-access memory (RAM), as well as a Snapdragon 430 ARM chip upon release. The other variant of the device will reportedly be a larger model that will measure 5.5 inches.

The bigger model is said to have the same 1,080p screen display resolution and the Snapdragon 430 ARM chip processor. But this time, the device will have 3 GB of RAM as well as a larger 16 MP camera.

Both devices are also rumored to have 1.4GHz octa-core processor, Cortex-A53 central processing unit (CPU) and Adreno 505 graphics processing unit (GPU), 8 MP front-facing selfie camera, as well as 16 GB of internal storage. The devices will also reportedly run using the latest Android 7.0 Nougat operating system (OS).

Little is known in terms of the upcoming smartphones' design, but it seems like the new devices will feature a clean, sleek look that the brand was known for in the past. "We will be extremely true to the Nokia brand," Nokia CEO Arto Nummela said in a statement released by Bloomberg. "The Nokia brand is known for simplicity, ease of use, reliability and quality. These are the elements that we will deliver together with amazing industrial design."
