Oakland Raiders news: David Amerson hoping to play against Titans
After suffering a mild concussion during Week 2 of the National Football League (NFL), the Oakland Raiders' David Amerson is hoping to return in time for their clash against the Tennessee Titans.
The cornerback was knocked unconscious in their battle against the Atlanta Falcons which placed him under concussion watch but he still believes that he is fine and ready to play by the weekend.
"I feel fine good. I feel normal, ready to go," he revealed to the Associated Press.
"It wasn't really a blow to the head, I got kind of hit under my chin so it was more like getting knocked out. I was knocked out for a minute. With the trainers being on their job they were being very cautious of what was going on, what my steps were after that happened. I'll be cool," he added.
According to Mercury News, the team is going through the strides to prepare him for the game, giving him limited capacity until he's up to speed.
Having Amerson back on the field will be a big push for the Raiders as they are 1-1 so far this season after the 35-28 loss to the Falcons during the second week of the campaign.
Furthermore, Amerson wants to get back in time to face the Titans as he had one of his best games against Tennessee last year. He set a new Raiders record with six passes defended while also grabbing an interception and completing two tackles.
It was a blistering game for Amerson that he hopes to repeat this year but the most important thing right now is for him to get the clearance to return to the field.
Concussions in the NFL is a big topics because the safety of the players is a priority. The league makes their players go through different tests before giving them the clearance to play and Amerson must pass it with flying colors before suiting up over the weekend.
