Oklahoma City Thunder trade rumors: OKC looking for veteran presence up front
After already trading away one of their pieces in the early days of the campaign, the Oklahoma City Thunder appear to be in talks for another big swap.
At the moment, they are one of only two teams who are unbeaten at 4-0, thanks to great play from Russell Westbrook and company. But it seems the team is still preparing for a big name to arrive.
Rumors are linking Zach Randolph of the Memphis Grizzlies on a potential move that could land him in Loud City.
While there are other teams involved in the rumor, with the Los Angeles Clippers and Toronto Raptors as part of the talks, the Thunder may be a likely destination for Randolph as he is looking for a team that can maximize his potential.
The Thunder are a tall team with Steven Adams and Enes Kanter occupying most of the big man spot and this can help Randolph as he can be productive in spurts. At 35 years old, Randolph is past his peak but is still a very capable player when given the chance.
In his career, he averages 16.9 points and 9.4 rebounds per game. In the first five games this year, his averages have gone down to 13.2 points and 8.0 rebounds per game, but he still has a lot to offer especially for a team looking for instant production on the offensive end.
It is likely that the Thunder will give up some young players in order to get Randolph, and the Grizzlies may entertain that as they need a little youth in the team. On the other hand, the Thunder are still relatively young and a veteran presence may be great for them in the coming season.
Without Randolph, the team has been unbeaten but they will undoubtedly welcome the chance to have him in tow as they add some firepower to the squad.
