Oklahoma City Thunder trade rumors 2016: Favorites to pick up Griffin next year
Even if he is still set to decide on his future next year, Blake Griffin's rumored move away from the Los Angeles Clippers remains strong.
According to reports, the Oklahoma City Thunder are still clear favourites to sign Griffin in the next summer window, giving the Thunder another powerful one-two punch with Griffin pairing with Russell Westbrook.
With Kevin Durant's departure, the Thunder secured their immediate future by signing Westbrook to a three-year deal but would want to keep him in the long run by adding another superstar in the game.
Griffin has been linked with a move away, and with the Thunder being a strong candidate to land the forward, fans should expect the team to do everything they can to make that move possible.
Some believe that a move to the Thunder makes sense for Griffin, who is about to enter the peak of his powers in the coming seasons.
One thing they mentioned was that Griffin partnering with Westbrook would be beneficial for both as they will peak at the same time and will be able to complement each other's games well.
Furthermore, if Griffin stays with the Clippers, he will be with Chris Paul, and while Paul is still one of the elite players in the game, he is not getting any younger, and he will be starting his slow descent as he ages.
At the moment, Paul is in his 30s, and though his game does not consist of flashy gameplay and excessive speed involved, Griffin will work exceptionally better with a point guard who is a firestarter like Westbrook.
Lastly, playing for the Thunder will make sense as Griffin is coming back home as he is born in Oklahoma City. He played his high school basketball career at Oklahoma Christian School and was the star at the University of Oklahoma.
Last year, Griffin only played 35 games and averaged 21.4 points, 8.4 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game.
