The "Once Upon A Time' season 6 premiere sure made it look like Emma (Jennifer Morrison) is about to be killed off in the fantasy drama.

In the season 6 opener, the daughter of Snow White and Prince Charming saw a vision of her battling against and ultimately being defeated by a mysterious hooded figure. The vision, which gave viewers a glimpse of what appeared to be the Savior's tragic end, was accompanied by tremors that had a debilitating effect on Regina (Lana Parrilla).

In the episode, it was revealed that Aladdin (Deniz Akdeniz) had the same experience when he encountered the villain Jafar (Oded Fehr), indicating that Emma wasn't the first Savior to be affected by the phenomenon.

Is the show really about to kill off one of its main characters? And will viewers soon find out who or what the hooded figure is?

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, "Once Upon A Time" co-creator Eddy Kitsis teased that the identity of the mysterious character will be revealed before the show goes on a break during Christmas. When asked if this means that Emma could die around that time, he clarified: "No — we could find out who's under the hood then. She could die as early as next week."

Speaking with E! News, Kitsis explained that the mystery surrounding Emma's possible downfall is an opportunity for the show to really get into the character's story.

"I think what we really wanted to do was get inside Emma's head," he told the press at an interview following the season 6 premiere.

He added, "We've seen her grow and fight in all these travels, and we thought, well, what would happen if you really did all this? Is it fair to return the happy endings of everyone else and then be told yours doesn't come?"

But while the new season teased Emma's end, co-creator Adam Horowitz insisted that the show remains to be one about hope.

Meanwhile, the pair teased Cinderella's (Jessy Schram) return in the current season. As Horowitz explained to THR, "Her episode is very impactful on what's going on with Emma and Regina and all of our core characters."

"Once Upon A Time" season 6 airs Sundays at 8 p.m. EDT on ABC.
