'One Piece' chapters 855, 856 spoilers: Can the Straw Hats survive Whole Cake Island?
It seems that having a hollow head does have its advantages — that is, if you're a walking, talking skeleton like the Soul King Brook from the Japanese manga series, "One Piece."
As it was, the best treat of chapter 855 did not turn out to be Sanji and Luffy's emotional reunion, but it was Brook's revelation that he has, after all, managed to get a rubbing of Big Mom's Road Poneglyph, which he has safely tucked inside his empty skull. Now that the odds seem to finally be working in the heroes' favor, what other exciting things are in store in chapter 856?
Coming to Whole Cake Island is not something that the Straw Hats would have willingly done unless they thought they could take on the Yonkou pirate, Big Mom, and survive. They set sail with only two objectives in mind: get Sanji and steal rubbings of the Road Poneglyph in Big Mom's possession. And they meant to do this without having to cross paths with the Charlotte matriarch or any of her cronies.
Of course, they didn't get so lucky, and they have even stirred the pot so badly that it would have to take nothing short of a miracle for them to survive Whole Cake Island. But with the crew finally reunited, and with Sanji and Luffy hopefully reconciling their differences in chapter 856, are things really starting to look up for Luffy and his crew, or is there another devastating twist waiting for them around the bend?
Some fans on the discussion website Reddit have expressed their concern about Brook and crew discussing the Road Poneglyph rubbings in front of Brûlée and how this could potentially cause them some serious trouble down the line. Big Mom does not take well to defeat and embarrassment and may end up blowing her lid and destroying everyone in her path once she finds out that, contrary to what her cronies have made her believe, things are no longer going according to her plans.
One particular speculation concerned the Straw Hats attending the wedding only to keep Sanji's sister, Reiju, from being killed. If it meant having to save the entire Vinsmoke clan for it, then Luffy and his crew will be there to foil the upcoming massacre. This would also mean that the Totto Land Arc may still be far from over.
"One Piece" chapter 856 comes out on the next issue of the "Weekly Shounen Jump" magazine.
