OnePlus 4 release date, news & update: One Plus 3S or 3 Plus coming before OnePlus 4?
Expect OnePlus to release a 3S or a 3 Plus before it drops the highly anticipated OnePlus 4, tech watchers now say.
According to rumors, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer will make a OnePlus 3S or a OnePlus 3 Plus available in early 2017 ahead of the OnePlus, which is expected to be unveiled around June or July. Reports also indicate that this upgraded version of the OnePlus 3 could come with a new screen and/or a more powerful processor.
PC Advisor UK says that the rumors of a OnePlus 3S or a OnePlus 3 Plus was fueled by observations that the company seems to be having a hard time keeping up with the demand for its OnePlus 3. There have also been reports that OnePlus was awarded a Compulsory Certification for a new smartphone in August.
These, along with the rumored processor upgrade and OnePlus' purported difficulty in sourcing AMOLED displays, have led an unidentified supply chain source to theorize that OnePlus will soon halt production of the OnePlus 3 and will, instead, begin churning out the OnePlus 3S or OnePlus 3 Plus.
Meanwhile, the OnePlus 4 is expected to follow the standard release schedule for the company's flagship smartphone.
Tech Radar suggests that because the OnePlus 3 came out in June 2016, the OnePlus 2 in July 2015, and the OnePlus in April 2014, the OnePlus 4 will likely be launched in mid-2017, possibly in June. However, if the company manages to launch the rumored device a couple of months earlier than usual, it could give the anticipated Samsung Galaxy S8, LG G6, and HTC 11 a run for their money.
The latest specs rumors for the OnePlus 4 include a new processor and the Snapdragon 830, which is also expected to come with Samsung's next flagship smartphone. The more plausible specs suggestions for the OnePlus 4 include water resistance, a curved screen, and a dual camera set-up. The OnePlus 4 is expected to run Oxygen OS and offer at least 64 GB of storage and 8 GB of RAM.
OnePlus has not officially announced its next flagship smartphone.
