OnePlus 4 release date, specs and rumors: handset to boast dual-camera lenses with augmented reality feature?

With OnePlus 3T recently unveiled, enthusiasts are expecting that OnePlus 4 will come out immediately after. Rumors claim that the company is planning to deploy a six-month interval in releasing new devices.

OnePlus 3T is the leveled-up version of the flagship OnePlus 3, which comes out with better camera and features under the hood. The arrival of the new handset sparked another speculation that OnePlus 4 will be even more powerful, and may challenge what iPhone 8 has in store.

There are no concrete details about OnePlus 4 as of this time, but rumors are rife that the upcoming handset will boast a dual-camera system, which may be comparable to Apple's own iPhone 7 Plus. The feature is also similar to that of LG G5 and Huawei P9.

It is interesting to note, though, that OnePlus may incorporate the dual-camera feature in the handset functions, which is different from what iPhone 7 and LG G5 feature. The latter handsets were installed with the dual-camera system solely for imaging tasks, but OnePlus 4's own camera may introduce augmented reality features, even mixed reality, to its function.

Comparing the specs of the current models, OnePlus 3 already gathered praises from the tech enthusiasts due to its powerful Snapdragon 820 with 6 GB of random-access memory (RAM) and 64 GB of built-in storage. The step-up OnePlus 3T model now has an upgraded processor of Snapdragon 821. Its RAM remains the same with the current flagship, but it already has a whopping 128 GB of internal storage.

OnePlus 4 may possibly be installed with Snapdragon 830 and will be coupled with an 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of built-in memory. According to Inquisitr, however, it is the imaging feature that OnePlus 4 could have a major improvement on.

OnePlus 3 already has impressive camera specs with 16-megapixel (MP) rear and 8 MP front. OnePlus 3T, on the other hand, has better camera lens but is reportedly not on par with that of Galaxy S7 Edge and iPhone 7. OnePlus 4 is expected to have an improved 12 MP sensor like the one featured in the latest Samsung devices.
