OnePlus 4 vs Samsung Galaxy S8 comparison: Snapdragon 830, dual cameras expected for flagship phones
The rumored OnePlus 4 is said to come with many of the same features — dual cameras, water resistance, a curved screen — as the rumored Samsung Galaxy S8. But how does the mid-range OnePlus 4 really stack up against the pricier Samsung flagship smartphone? Read on.
The latest rumored features of the OnePlus 4 include a more powerful processor, a dual-camera set-up and water resistance. Rumor has it that the upcoming smartphone is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 830, the same processor rumored for the next Samsung Galaxy model.
Because curved screens are expected to become more and more common over the next few years, it's likely that the OnePlus 4 could come with a curved display, according to Tech Radar. There's also talk of a dual-lens camera, with one lens specifically designed for wide-angle shots and one for standard shots. While waterproofing may be too much for a mid-tier gadget, tech industry watchers are hoping that OnePlus will make its next flagship smartphone water-resistant.
In addition, the OnePlus 4 is expected to offer a minimum of 64 GB of storage space and 8 GB of RAM.
It is suggested that the OnePlus 4 will be unveiled in June or July 2017, following the standard launch schedule for the OnePlus phones.
Because Samsung has been having quite a disastrous year, what with some of its devices reportedly catching fire and exploding, a lot is riding on the highly anticipated Galaxy S8.
Apart from rumors of a Snapdragon 830 processor and a dual-camera setup, Mashable suggests that the next flagship phone from Samsung could feature a 4K screen, which would offer better and sharper visuals in VR.
Meanwhile, SamMobile says that the graphics chip in the Galaxy S8 could be twice as powerful as the one in the S7 and that the rumored phone could come with more RAM.
The Galaxy S8 will reportedly be the first Galaxy phone to not be made available in a flat screen variant. Mashable also expects wireless charging and IP68 water resistance. Expandable storage, which recently made a comeback, should also be a feature of the S8.
With the potential lost sales resulting from the recalled Note 7 phablet, the Samsung Galaxy S8 is expected to come sooner than expected, possibly in early 2017.
