OnePlus One Release Date News: Pre-Orders Re-Open; OnePlus Two Release Date Coming 2015?

After a disastrous first run, OnePlus will reopen the pre-ordering of its OnePlus One smartphone unit for a second time on Nov. 17.

When the OnePlus One pre-orders went live on Oct. 27, the website's servers went offline due to increased traffic. The incident left many customers unable to place their orders, unable to log in, or were suddenly disconnected while in the middle of completing their orders.

OnePlus allowed pre-ordering for only one hour, starting 15:00 GMT to 16:00 GMT (08:00 PST, 11:00 EST), but due to the sudden site crash they extended the pre-order window.

The full statement reads: "Unfortunately our servers weren't able to keep up with the initial surge. We have extended the pre-order window to three hours so that all users who would like to pre-order are able to."

To make up for what occurred, OnePlus issued an apology, saying they were "exceptionally sorry for the inconvenience caused to so many users" and that they decided to reopen the pre-order site for OnePlus One on Nov. 17. The pre-order window will be opened at 14:00 GMT (07:00 PST, 10:00 EST).

"We will open another pre-order window to ensure that anyone who was unsuccessful in accessing out site yesterday can still order the One if they wish," OnePlus company executive, Carl Pei, wrote on the company's official website. "We are taking steps such as enabling more servers earlier and expanding account handling servers to create a much smoother process."

"By waiting a few weeks, we will have time to ramp up our inventory and implement needed changes. It will also give you a chance to express any questions or feedback you might have so we can really improve this next round."

The release date of OnePlus One's successor, the OnePlus Two, has been rumored to be somewhere in the second or third quarter of 2015. OnePlus company executives, Carl Pei and David S, confirmed the news on Reddit's Ask-Me-Anything thread.

"OnePlus Two should be out in Q2 or Q3 of 2015," they stated. "We've seen a lot of people asking for a smaller device, and want to let everyone know that we hear you. We're thinking about it."
