'Orange Is the New Black' Season 3 Release Date, Plot Spoilers: Season 2 Recap as Netflix New Season Nears
Netflix has announced that Season 3 of "Orange Is the New Black" will premiere on June 12, 2015. As this date draws near, let's look back at Season 2 and look at speculations as to what Season 3 has in store for its viewers.
At the end of Season 2, Litchfield was on lockdown after Vee escaped through the greenhouse. Terminally ill Rosa was also allowed to escape after the escort van hit Vee, leaving her on the side of the road, apparently dead with blood flowing from her nose. Most of the people in the prison (Taystee, Black Cindy, Jenae and Poussey, to name a few) would be happy if this was the case since Vee had been manipulative and domineering.
Inside the prison, Piper was emotionally affected by the developing relationship between her former fiancé Larry and former best friend Polly. At the same time she felt guilty about her involvement in getting Alex – her friend/enemy/lover – back in jail.
Big Boo and Nicky had a sort of understanding to hold on to Vee's former heroin stash for their own side business next season.
Sister Ingalls ended her hunger strike.
Soso understood that prison sucks and changes people.
Red was still recovering from being hit by a lock-in-a-sock [steel lock placed inside a sock] home-made weapon.
Pennsatucky still didn't have friends.
Crazy Eyes seemed to be the only one sad at the loss of Vee.
Daya was still pregnant with Bennett's kid.
Caputo was trying to enjoy his new position as Assistant Warden. He shut down Bennett's wanting to come clean about getting Daya pregnant. Although he got a win with Sister Ingalls ending her hunger strike, Rosa escaping was a big dent.
Healy was still Healy. Fig the Embezzler lost her job but she did it in style, by resigning with benefits. She might not be back for Season 3, but it would be good just to give Caputo some hell.
Laura Prepon will be back in Season 3 and she will wreak havoc in Piper's life. It is reported that Mike Birbiglia, Blair Brown and Mary Steenburgen will join Season 3, but no details yet as to what roles they will play. Marsha Stephanie Blake will join the cast as a corrections officer. A new video also shows Ruby Rose joining the cast.
Piper's fiancé, Larry, played by Jason Biggs, will no longer be in Season 3. Alysia Reiner and Pablo "Pornstache" Schrieber and Diane "Ramos" Guerrero also won't be coming back.
What will Season 3 be about? Creator Jenji Kohan only spilled a little clue and said it will be "about faith." Whatever that means, we will just have to wait and see when Season 3 starts on June 15.
