Netflix will be releasing the upcoming fifth season of the comedy-drama series "Orange is the New Black" in the months to come. With the show's fourth season ending in a devastating cliffhanger, many of its fans are eager to find out what happens to some of their favorite characters. Perhaps to satiate the growing curiosity of its fanbase, some members of the cast have recently teased some details on the forthcoming season.

At the recently-held 2017 Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards, cast member Danielle Brooks told E! News that the fifth season of "Orange Is the New Black" will take place over the course of three days.

"You will watch 13 episodes, and find out what happens in the course of three days," Brooks revealed. "So, it will be very detailed, very intense, and you better get ready," she added.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the detail shared by Brooks breaks tradition as "Orange Is the New Black" has previously kept the time span of each season as vague as possible to prevent specifically addressing how much time is remaining on the characters' sentences.

Nevertheless, the shortened time span will reportedly address the aftermath of the events from the previous season, such as the death of one of the show's major characters and a prison-wide riot that broke out afterward.

After the cast won the Comedy Ensemble Award at the 2017 SAG Awards, actress Taylor Schilling also spoke with E! News, adding more details about what fans can expect once the show returns this year.

"I think the stakes are higher in this season than they have been in a while just by virtue of the compressed time and seeing people in compressed circumstance really raises the stakes. It's exciting to watch, I think for all of us," Schilling said.

"Orange Is the New Black" season 5 has no official release date yet, but the series is expected to return sometime this summer on Netflix.
