'Orange Is the New Black' season 5 release date, plot spoilers: Lori Petty says Lolly will return in new season
Because it has only been a little over a month since "Orange Is the New Black" season 4 dropped, it might be a while before any season 5 details become available.
Nonetheless, "Orange Is the New Black" actress Lori Petty, who plays the highly paranoid inmate Lolly Whitehill, says that she believes her character will be back for season 5.
The last time viewers saw of Lolly in season 4 was when she was being dragged off to the psych ward after the body of Aydin (Juri Henley-Cohn) was discovered and Healy (Michael J. Harney) realized that Lolly did, indeed, kill him.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Petty said that she "certainly hopes" that viewers will get to see Lolly in season 5.
"I do think we will," the actress said. "I can't say for sure, but I absolutely think we will."
"Here's what I assume — and this is because it's all about me, right? — we go into psych and Mr. Healy was there and I'm screaming and crying," she explained. "I did some looping and I saw it and it looked great. Then I realize that they built a huge hallway with rooms and a whole set. So I'm thinking it's going to be: Psych! Starring Lori Petty!"
Meanwhile, Laura Gómez, who plays the inmate Blanca Flores, said in an interview with IBTimes that she is excited to see season 4's major cliffhanger play out in season 5. As viewers recall, the end of season 4 featured Daya (Dascha Polanco) holding a gun to Officer Humphrey's (Michael Torpey) head.
Gómez also said that she would love to know more about Yoga Jones (Constance Shulman) and Humphrey, the correctional officer who made Maritza (Diane Guerrero) eat a live baby mouse in season 4.
While "Orange Is the New Black" season 5 is currently without an official release date, PopSugar suggests that the new season could debut on June 9, 16, or 23 next year.
