'Orange is the New Black' season 5 release date, spoilers: Piper and other character to be killed off

In the fifth season of the popular Netflix prison drama TV series "Orange Is the New Black," Piper Chapman (Taylor Schilling), among many others, will reportedly be killed off next season.

Since Poussey Washington's (Samira Wiley) demise in the previous season, the inmates of Litchfield Penitentiary will reportedly go through big character developments. Poussey's best friend Tasha "Taystee" Jefferson (Danielle Brooks) is expected to avenge her death. Perhaps the inmate will get someone killed in the process.

As previously reported, Officer Humphrey (Michael Torpey) is believed to be killed off by Daya (Dascha Polanco). To note, the former was held at gunpoint by the latter. Meanwhile, the rest of the Hispanic inmates surrounding the pair were chanting and urging Daya to pull the trigger. Whether or not she will, the inmate is bound for serious consequences.

Furthermore, the lead character of the show will also be going through a transformation in the upcoming season of "Orange Is the New Black." Piper will reportedly get into trouble with either her on-again-off-again lover, Alex (Laura Prepon) or her nemesis, Stella (Ruby Rose).

With the amount of drama expected to happen in the upcoming season, many inmates are expected to be sent to solitary confinement. Meanwhile, a few inmates will be released from their cells at solitary confinement, one of which is Miss Claudette (Michelle Hurst). Her return will knock some sense out of the remaining inmates at Litchfield.

The fifth season will allot more screen time for Yoga Jones (Constance Shulman) and her roommate, Judy King (Blair Brown). Since the latter was about to leave the prison, her involvement with Poussey's death might prevent her from leaving Litchfield.

Netflix has yet to announce the release date for "Orange Is the New Black" season 5, but the show is expected to launch sometime in June 2017.
