'Outlander' season 3 news, spoilers: New promo still gives first look at Brianna; Catriona Balfe excited to see new filming locations
Although "Outlander" is still a few months away from its season 3 premiere, lead stars Sam Heughan (Jamie) and Caitriona Balfe (Claire) recently helped fans get through "Droughtlander" by responding to some fan questions.
Entertainment Tonight caught up with the actors at the show's Scotland set, and they were asked about what they're most looking forward to in the coming year. According to Balfe, she is excited to see the exotic filming locations for next season.
"I'm really looking forward to filming in South Africa," the actress gushed. "I'm really looking forward to that part of the story and also being in a new place. It's going to be fun."
Aside from the new locations, Heughan mentioned he is very eager to see how fans will react to the historical drama's much-anticipated third season."I'm really proud of this season so far," he said. "I think it's been very strong and different and the stories are great, so I'm excited for the fans to see it."
Meanwhile, Starz released a new promo image for season 3 last week, giving fans a first look at Claire's baby, Brianna. Even though she is Jamie and Claire's baby, Frank (Tobias Menzies) will be the one who'll raise her as his own. After Jamie forced her to leave the country because of the impending Battle of Culloden, Claire is now back in 20th-century Boston where she gave birth to her daughter.
Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Balfe described the latest photo as the first time Frank met their new baby. The actress noted that those scenes were wonderful because it symbolizes a "new beginning" for Claire and Frank. As for their relationship, Balfe said Frank is still trying to deal with the fact that his wife mysteriously disappeared, and now, she's back. The show picks up with the couple trying to see if they can work things out and "allow themselves to embrace a future together."
The third season of "Outlander" is expected to premiere in spring 2017 on Starz.
