'Outlander' season 3 spoilers: Claire gets used to other life without Jaime?
Unlike the previous seasons, "Outlander" season 3 will start off with Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) living different lives in separate time periods.
Balfe recently spoke to The Wrap to tease what the star-crossed lovers will be up to during their time away from each other especially with the impression that they will never see each other again.
"The great thing about this show is that every new season, everything sort of gets turned on its head," the actress said. In "Outlander" season 3, both Jamie and Claire will establish a life without each other.
"In the beginning, when we come back this season, I think everyone knows at this point the stories are quite separate," the Golden Globes nominee stated.
"Outlander" season 3 will start by exploring what Jamie has gone through in the past two decades. As revealed in the past, fans will get to finally witness the Battle of Culloden at the start of the season.
This is one of the major changes from the source material, "Voyager," the third book in Diana Gabaldon's "Outlander" series, in which the time travel drama is based.
The war has been built up on the show for quite a while and it was deemed best by the people behind the series that fans should finally watch the historical event pan out.
Balfe also teased that fans will get to see Claire and Frank (Tobias Menzies) as a couple. Additionally, there will also be mother and daughter moments with Claire and Brianna (Sophie Skelton). "You see a bit of Claire as a professional doctor, surgeon," Balfe teased.
With all that said, it looks like "Outlander" season 3 will be very distinct from the previous season mainly because Jaime and Claire are not together.
This will not be permanent, of course. They are bound to reunite and according to Balfe, this moment is "really beautiful."
"Outlander" season 3 will premiere this spring.
